Service Description

At our Introduction to Mantrailing session, you and your dog will learn the foundations of Mantrailing - follow the scent trail and fine 'missing person'. It is a superb dog sport adapted from Search and Rescue operations; every dog, regardless of their age, size or breed, is able to use their nose to follow and find their target. What is covered in your first session: - Handler (you) line handling - your dog will be on a long line and you will learn how to correctly use the line without tangling or tripping over - Handler introduced to basic terminology - Dog - will be given small challenges with guaranteed successful finds of missing person, to build their motivation for the sport

Cancellation Policy

Refund for cancellations are issued if client cancels to the maximum of 24 hours before event start. Please Whatsapp message me (+353 (0) 87 615 8324) if you need to cancel within 24 hours. Payment: All sessions must be booked on this site and prepaid, unless agreed by your Instructor in writing either through Whatsapp or email. If you wish to pay in cash at the event, please contact 087 6158324 or email info@northwesttrails.ie. • The Participant understands that this event/activity is potentially hazardous to those taking part (both human and dog) and the participant does so at his/her own risk. • The Participant will not participate in the event unless they are medically fit and of able body on the days of the workshop. In any case, they participate at their own risk. • The Participant will ensure that they are wearing appropriate footwear (e.g. boots, wellingtons with good grips) and bring raingear. No sandals, flipflops allowed. • The Participant has declared any dog-dog or dog-person reactivity to the instructor. • The Participant has declared any prior or current participation in bite sports (IGP,/Schutzhund) or security training. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Please bring along the following items and have your dog on a flat collar and short leash when you take them out of the vehicle. Every dog outside must be kept on a lead. - well fitting harness - long line of 5-10 meters - tupperware containers with high value treats (no kibble) - water bowl and water - scent article in plastic bag (scarf, old tshirt, hat, any clothing item) - make sure your shoes and clothing are appropriate for the weather - Arrive 10 minutes early to allow your dog out for a sniff before we start All dogs must be in the car before we start. We work dogs one at a time, so reactive dogs are welcome - if you are not comfortable trailing for a reactive dog - please let me know beforehand. Some dogs may not be comfortable with humans or other dogs - please DO NOT approach a dog that you do not know. Dogs are not allowed to meet during this event. We take video and photos during the event, please let me know if you do not want to participate.
